Adjunct Engineering professoror in the
mechanical and civil engineering programs at University of Wyoming. I teach a full load of courses that range from sophomore through senior year of our programs. I am also a Trustee of Laramie County Community College, which is an elected position that governs the college and has responsibilty for an approximately $70,000,000 annual budget.
- 2004-2010
Physics/Engineering/Math instructor at
Laramie County Community College, Cheyenne, Wyoming During a two-year
course rotation I teach the calculus sequence through differential
equations, physics I, and II, and engineering courses such as statics, thermodynamics, electric circuits, and
mechanics of materials. Between 1996 and 2009 I partnered in and managed a
hotel with twelve or more part-time and full-time employees and an annual
budget of $300,000.
- 2002-2004 Assistant
Clinical Professor of Manufacturing Engineering,
WSU, Vancouver. I taught heat
transfer, industrial ecology, statistics, metrology, advanced
manufacturing processes, systems engineering, and the senior capstone
design course.
- 1997 to 2002 Contract
factory automation engineering with Shin Etsu Hondoati (Semiconductor) P21 Design Team involving
testing of vendor tool interfaces and implementation of SECS/GEM standard
and other automation issues. Adjunct engineering professor at WSU,
Vancouver.
- 1996-1997 Designed and
developed a technical curriculum for Shin Etsu Hondoati, America
covering all aspects of silicon wafer manufacture. Adjunct professor at
WSU and Clark College.
- 1993-1996 Professor in
physics and engineering at Laramie
County Community College,
Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Adjunct instructor in earth sciences at University of
Northern Colorado. I
taught physics, meteorology, engineering computing, statics,
dynamics, mechanics of materials, fluid
mechanics, oceanography, and geology. Up to and during this time I also
partnered in a farm/ranch operation that employed five people, operated 2,000
acres of irrigated ground and cattle, and had an annual budget of
$700,000.
- 1986-1993 CEO,
Diamond-Anvil Corp., Cheyenne, Wyoming,
a technical services provider. Clients included Panhandle Eastern Pipeline
Co. (LIMS development), Tencor Instruments
(Graphics software), Honeywell TID (Metrology Instrumentation), Amoco
Minerals, Meridian Oil, and Cyprus Industrial Minerals (Applied
Geophysics). Adjunct professor of earth science at Metro State College, Denver.
- 1983-1986 I owned a geophysical consulting firm with Mr. Arthur
L. Lange (now named Karst Geophysics, Inc.,
Golden, CO). Adjunct professor of computer science at Regis College,
Denver.
- 1975-1982 Various
employment including engineering geophysicist at Fugro
BV (Earth Technology Corp.) in Long Beach, California; three years as a WAE
groundwater hydrologist with the U.S.G.S. Water Resources Division during
graduate school, and two NSF fellowships to design and build molecular
nitrogen lasers and supporting hardware for a solid state physics
laboratory.
Education
- Ph.D. 1982. University of
Utah. Geophysics. Dissertation topic: Solid/fluid mechanics and heat
transfer applied to problems in solid earth physics, especially to western
U.S. Cenozoic evolution.
- M.Sc.
1978. University of Utah. Geophysics. Thesis topic: Heat transfer by
combined conduction and convection in the subsurface applied to Utah
hot springs.
